World Conference on Non‑Destructive Testing

June 13-17, 2016 in Munich, Germany

Mike Farley

I am delighted to have the honour of inviting the world of NDT to gather in Munich for the 19th WCNDT in 2016.

The World Conference will return to Europe after a gap of 16 years, and to Germany after a gap of 46 years. In fact the 6th World conference was held in Hanover in 1970.

We can be confident that the German Society DGZfP will organise one of the biggest and best World Conferences ever with the very best technology from all around the globe on show. My aim will be to make it, in its own way, one of the most important and valuable for the whole world of NDT.

It is not too soon to begin to plan your own personal involvement in the 19th World Conference on NDT in Munich. You may want to sponsor one of the events, present your business in the large exhibition, give a paper, organise a workshop, participate in the conference, learn how to set up an NDT Society, or meet professional colleagues from all around the globe…. as well as drinking a few beers in a city famous for that pastime.

I would urge people from countries that are developing new NDT Societies to make attendance at the ICNDT General Assembly (which will be held during the conference) a key target.

See you in Munich?

Mike Farley, Chairman ICNDT

    Welcome Address

    Matthias Purschke

We cordially invite you to the 19th World Conference on Non-Destructive Testing 2016.

Munich is an ideal place for conferences: It has the second largest airport in Germany, has international rail connections and is a central point of the highways in southern Germany. The accessibility of Munich “Germany’s secret capital” is excellent. It has an excellent conference center and 350 hotels of all categories. The City of Munich therewith provides all necessary prerequisites for a successful WCNDT 2016. Last but not least Munich is famous for Bavarian Beer and its local cuisine.

Since, the World Conference on NDT is the most important event in our global community. The German Society for NDT, DGZfP, has been the organiser of the 6th WCNDT in Hanover in 1970, of the European Conference in Berlin 2006 and is honoured to be the host of the 19th WCNDT 2016.

    Matthias Purschke, WCNDT President

    WCNDT Vice Presidents

Vice Presidents are the Chairmen of the Scientific Committee and assemble the final programme of the World Conference. They define conference topics and propose members for the topic specific sub committees. Additionally they promote Conference and Exhibition in their specific fields.

    Welcome Address

The German Society for Nondestructive Testing, DGZfP, is the organiser of the 2016 World Conference – WCNDT. In order to compile the scientific and technical programme of the conference, a new approach, compared with all other WCNDT’s before, came-up.

On one hand, a website in the internet will be established, where the especially selected “Scientific and Technical Advisory Board”, on-line can perform the review and ranking of the incoming abstracts according to the conference topics which will be published, January 2015, in the “1st call for papers” and a special ranking procedure.

On the other hand, this advisory board of internationally recognised experts is selected on basis of proposals of the four Vice-Presidents of the WCNDT which are:

    Gerd Dobmann

    Gerd Dobmann
    Fraunhofer-Institute for Nondestructive Testing, Saarbrücken

    Anton Erhard

    Anton Erhard
Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing, Berlin

    Marc Kreutzbruck

    Marc Kreutzbruck
Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing, Berlin

    Martin Spies

    Martin Spies
    Fraunhofer-Institute for Industrial Mathematics, Kaiserslautern

The conference topics which actually are in the focus of the DGZfP are chosen according to the idea, to fulfill the information needs to “enhanced developments in individual NDT-industrial sectors, contributing to a more reliable and safe technical infrastructure in our world” as well as topics highlighting trends which in last national and international NDT-conferences have been primarily asked for. However, also contributions which are addressed to special, well code-accepted, NDT-methodologies as VT, UT, MT, RT, …, are welcome, so far they really reveal and introduce a new technological progress.

Therefore you will find – without any preferences – NDT topics to:

    • Energy Generation
    • Semi-Finished Products
    • Structural Engineering
    • Traffic Engineering
    • Reliability and Statistic Procedures
    • Modelling and Data Processing
    • Materials Characterisation
    • Monitoring
    • Cultural Heritage
    • Medical Products
    • Nano-Technologies and High-Resolution NDT
    • Public Security and Humanitarian Safety
    • Standards and Training of NDT Personnel

Munich is a most attractive city for national and international congresses.

The Bavarian state capital is refferred to as high-tech Mecca, beer city and capital of the fun. Some call it "Athens on the Isar", others the northernmost city of Italy; both terms illustrate its rich architecture as well as spirit and rythm which reigns in Munic.

If you headed for munic it makes no difference from where you come. What counts is that you are cordially welcome.

The International Congress Centre Munich - ICM, one of the most modern congress centres in the world, is an integral part of the New Munich Trade Fair Centre. An inviting and friendly atmosphere as well as the finest equipment offer ideal conditions for events of any kind and size.

With a capacity of 7.000 seats, approximately 7.000m² of exhibition space and rooms for flexible use, the ICM is one of the most efficient centres of its kind.

The 19th WCNDT is an ideal opportunity to draw the attention of the International NDT world to your company by presenting your products, research results and NDT services or by taking over a sponsorship. Different categories of sponsorship will be offered.

During the 19th WCNDT in Munich NDT service providers, NDT equipment developers or NDT research institutes will have the opportunity to present their newest developments, NDT applications and research results. Beside special booth sizes for e.g. sponsoring institutions and large companies more than 150 exhibition stands (standard size 9 m²), will be available. Coffee and lunch breaks will be provided in the exhibition areas; these comfortable areas will be informal meeting points or places just to relax.
